Are you wondering how to set realistic resolutions whilst achieving all of your goals? Read on. Here at Girls in Charge we love empowering women, and we wanted to provide you with some top tips for the New Year.
It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and change is a process.
It may be tempting to set lots of resolutions. However, it’s worth being mindful of how many goals you’re setting. There’s no need to overwhelm yourself at all. A few realistic goals, that you can feel good at ticking off, is definitely enough to suffice.
Planning ahead – what do you want to achieve at the end of 2023?
Sitting and thinking about the new year ahead is understandably overwhelming for some. One way to set some New Year’s resolutions is asking yourself what do you want to achieve at the end of 2023? Envisaging where you want to be next Christmas will certainly motivate you to get working on your goals. Being specific is also important. One of your goals may be to advance in your career, but include more detail. In what aspects? How will you get there to achieve it? Start with small steps.
Self-care is vital to include within your goals.
As we’ve already discussed, it can become overwhelming to set lots of goals for the New Year. Alongside career-based or academic goals, incorporating self-care into your daily routine should be a priority. Often, it is at the bottom of people’s lists. Self-care also doesn’t have to be the conventional face masks and movie nights – whatever works for you and allows you to relax is valid.
Add something fun to your list!
New Year’s Resolutions are often career or academic-based, why not consider placing something on your list that is for nothing but enjoyment. One tip we love is to try a new hobby that you don’t have to be ‘good’ at. Once those expectations are lowered, you never know what might happen.
If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to learn a new skill, why not come to one of our upcoming workshops?
